Fibersmith was founded in 2013 by Donny Smith with a mission to expand broadband internet access to rural and historically underserved areas.

Founded in 2013, Fibersmith began with a single employee to design and oversee expansion projects for providers. It has now grown to a team of dozens of skilled designers and engineers, field inspectors and consultants.

Started in 2017, Vision was created to help providers avoid swivel-chair and prioritize consistency in business practices. With a combined 100+ years in telecom expertise, Vision’s team supports providers in their next stage of expansion.

Fibersmith and JDFEC have enjoyed a long history of partnering together on broadband expansion projects. That partnership was made official when JDFEC was acquired by Fibersmith in July 2023.

Providing reliable civil and structural engineering services since 1871, Ahneman Kirby was acquired by Fibersmith in 2023 to expand both companies’ portfolio of services and take advantage of innovation opportunities.
